The tool I couldn't find
I'm Jera Value. I'm a software engineer and a private investor, and I also built findmymoat.com (opens in a new tab) to find the best investing tools out there.
Special situations are a fascinating way to invest. Few people follow them, and they work differently from what most investors do. They can pay well, but they take a lot of work. You have to find them, follow them, and then wait months for them to play out.
And for those months, you don't want to spend every day wondering whether something new came out that could cost you a lot of money. The usual investing tools don't help much here. They aren't built for these deals, and none of them handles a book of these positions, which follows its own logic.
So I built a tool made for special situations. It starts with merger arbitrage, and it will grow to cover other kinds, until it's what I hope becomes the best tool to discover and follow special situations.
